Hi, I am Maxie
LMSW-C
Locations: New Horizons Counseling Center Ira Township and Virtual/Telehealth Appointments
I believe that healing begins when people feel safe enough to share their stories. My approach to therapy is warm, compassionate, nonjudgmental, and supportive, with a balance of insight, authenticity, and even humor when appropriate. I work collaboratively with adolescents and adults to develop practical coping skills for today's challenges while exploring deeper patterns that may be influencing their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and sense of self. Above all, I value building a strong therapeutic relationship where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to grow.

Let's Work Together
I believe that everyone has a story worth telling, and that healing often begins when we have the opportunity to share that story in a safe and supportive environment. One of my favorite quotes is from Maya Angelou: "There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you." This quote reflects the heart of my work as a therapist. I strive to create a space where clients feel comfortable exploring experiences, emotions, and parts of themselves that may have gone unseen, unheard, or unspoken.

My approach to therapy is warm, compassionate, nonjudgmental, and collaborative. I believe that meaningful change happens when clients feel genuinely supported and understood. Building a strong therapeutic relationship is one of the most important parts of the counseling process, and I work to create an environment where trust, honesty, and authenticity can grow.

In our work together, I focus on helping clients develop practical coping skills and strategies to manage the challenges they are facing in the present. At the same time, I believe there is tremendous value in exploring the past to better understand the deeper roots of current struggles. Together, we may examine recurring patterns in emotions, thoughts, beliefs, relationships, and behaviors to gain insight into the unconscious processes that shape our lives. By increasing awareness and understanding, clients are often able to make more intentional choices and create lasting change.

I typically work with adolescents and adults who are navigating behavioral health concerns, interpersonal difficulties, identity exploration, life transitions, or emotional challenges. What I enjoy most about this work is witnessing people gain a deeper understanding of themselves and begin to move through life with greater confidence, self-compassion, and clarity.

Outside of therapy, I value authenticity, humility, introspection, and finding humor in life's challenges. I believe that growth and healing can coexist with laughter, and I bring that balanced perspective into my work with clients. My goal is to walk alongside you as you explore your story, uncover your strengths, and move toward a life that feels more meaningful and fulfilling.

I take appointments at our Ira Township counseling center location and I am available for virtual telehealth appointments for anyone throughout Michigan who cannot make it to our in-person offices.
