In Response to COVID-19.
***OUR ONLINE/REMOTE THERAPY SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE FOR YOU.***
Update: April 2, 2020
Dear Valued Client:
In light of the Coronavirus pandemic, we are temporarily suspending services at the center for a minimum of two weeks. The COVID-19 pandemic is an evolving situation and we want to assure you that the health and safety of our clients and staff is the highest priority.
Although the center is closed, please be assured that there has been no identified risk. We will continue to make decisions based on science and the recommended guidance provided by the Center for Disease Control and our local health department.
Here is how we are acting on that guidance right now:
§ The center will be closed from 3/23/2020 to 4/30/2020 to undergo a deep clean and disinfection process, as recommended by the CDC.
§ We will be offering TELEHEALTH sessions to all clients. Teletherapy, also known as online therapy, e-therapy or video therapy, is therapy delivered through a virtual platform via a computer. If you’ve ever used FaceTime or Skype, it's essentially the same thing. Please contact your therapist if you are interested in this option for servicing your mental health needs.
§ We will evaluate this closure and provide an update on our website at: www.nhcounselingcenter.com.
Please know we care deeply about our clients and want what is in the best interest for all clients and staff.
We look forward to seeing you again, soon! Take care and be well!

Dear Valued Client,
New Horizons Counseling Center would like to take a moment to reflect on the current COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak and how it may affect you and the services we provide. After careful consideration, as well as consultations with esteemed colleagues and other health care professionals, New Horizons Counseling Center would like to provide you a “Teletherapy” option to meet your mental health needs at this time.
Teletherapy, also known, as online therapy, e-therapy, or video therapy, is therapy delivered through a virtual platform via any electronic device with Internet access (eg: phone, tablet or computer). If you’ve ever used FaceTime or Skype, it’s essentially the same thing – except more secure and with a qualified therapist or counselor at the other end instead of a friend or relative. We realize that this is the most conservative approach and response to the virus, but we do not want to risk the health of anyone who may be at a higher risk for critical illness. Although this is not the ideal option for some people, New Horizons Counseling Center wants to ensure we do everything we can to keep our clients safe and secure.
Many insurance companies will reimburse for Teletherapy. Please confirm that your insurance company reimburses for Teletherapy services prior to requesting them by calling the customer service number on your insurance card. Please know that we will be using a secure and HIPAA compliant platform that has been specifically developed for Teletherapy. If you and your therapist agree that this is a positive and realistic option for you, your therapist will provide you a link for your Teletherapy session.
Please know that a Consent Form is available in your patient portal. We can send you an email link to access your Patient Portal. If you request Teletherapy at this time, please sign the form, scan and email it to the email your therapist will provide. If you do not have the capability to do this electronically, please mail the form to our office before Teletherapy services can be provided.
Before a Teletherapy session can take place, please place a phone call to the office in order to collect deductible or copayments. Payments must be made in advance before a Teletherapy session can be conducted.
Please also be aware that in the event that anyone is suspected of having COVID-19, the CDC (or other health organization) may require us to disclose personal information (name, address, phone number) of all people who may have had contact with the infected individual. Normally, privacy rules prohibit disclosure, but during illness outbreaks where other people could be endangered, we would be obligated to disclose this information to authorities in order to prevent further spread of the disease. Although this may be unlikely, it behooves us to inform you of the possibility.
New Horizons Counseling Center recognizes the importance of being transparent with our approach. We care deeply about our clients and acknowledge the stress, anxiety, trepidation and concern you may have. Our priority is to continue to offer services in the wake of this pandemic either at the center or through Teletherapy services. Please inform your therapist what might be the best option for you and we will do our best to accommodate you and your needs.
In Health and Wellness,
